A Whirlwind of Engagement
From 8:40 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the weekdays, sixth to eighth grade Cyclones take to the halls of their beloved 2204 Norwood campus. Located in the heart of the Crest View neighborhood, Centennial Middle School boasts a solid instructional program, an accomplished staff and a plethora of extracurriculars.
Core academic curriculum is supplemented with intensive language arts, specialized mathematics and creative writing classes. And as a school that is concerned with continual development, a foundation for lifelong learning is fostered with challenging study habit expectations and hands-on practice with state-of-the-art technology.
The BVSD middle school is complete with over 30 well-rounded instructors to guide and mentor its 560 students. One notable teacher, Bill Schmoker, was selected to participate as a research assistant in the National Science Foundation’s PolarTREC program this past summer.
Centennial’s novel activity programs stimulate and cultivate eager adolescent minds.
The school offers traditional interscholastic athletics including football, soccer, basketball, wrestling, volleyball and track and field. Intramural activities feature Dance Club, Fitness Club, Centennial Riders Biking, Rock Climbing, Bolder Boulder training.
Enrichment opportunities abound with Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra, Fall Play, Spring Musical, Student Council, Brain Bowl, Math Counts, Art Club, Geography Bee and Kids’ Vision of Peace.
And this school isn’t just student-focused; it gets the whole family involved!

Families can stay abreast with the latest Cyclone news by utilizing the Student-Parent Portal to monitor students’ grades, assignments, attendance and schedule, right from a home computer! And parents are encouraged to join the Parent-Teacher Organization and the Decision Management Team; and also to participate in the Fuel the Cyclones program and volunteer at the multitudinous school-related events.
